A MESSAGE FROM CANTOR ROSENMAN ♫ ♫ ♫
As I write this, it is one week after Yom Kippur and part of Chol Hamoed Sukkot. I would like to take this moment to thank and congratulate our volunteer adult choir for contributing their energy, dedication, enthusiasm and talent, and for the magnificent job that they did singing for the High Holy Days. The adult choir will continue to meet on a weekly basis. All members who are Bar/Bat Mitzvah age and up, and who love to sing, are warmly invited to participate in the group. If you are interested, please call me at the Temple office, ext. 103. I would also like to thank and ongratulate the members of our Zimrah Squad for the wonderful job that they did singing at the Family Service that took place the day following Yom Kippur.
Kol Hakvod to all.
B’shirah, Cantor Jason Rosenman
B’shira, Cantor Jason Rosenmanry (July 3), we are excited and look
forward with great anticipation, not only with regards to moving into our new
home, but also, and more importantly, about getting to know all of you and
becoming part of the Temple Israel family and the larger Jewish community of
Akron..
I was born and raised in Rockland County, NY. I did my undergraduate
studies at Syracuse University where I majored in music with Voice as my
primary instrument and Euphonium (Baritone Horn) as my secondary instrument.
Shortly after graduating from Syracuse, I lived in Israel for two years. The
first year was as a postgraduate student at the WUJS (World Union of Jewish
Students) program in Arad, and the second year in Israel was as a first year
Graduate Student at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in
Jerusalem. I then continued to study for four additional years at the New
York branch of HUC-JIR/SSM (School of Sacred Music). During that time, I
served student pulpit positions in Franklin, Massachusetts and Evansville,
Indiana. During the second year of my student position in Franklin, I also
traveled on alternate weekends to another student position in Baltimore, MD.
After graduating and receiving my Investiture and MSM (Master of Sacred Music)
degree from HUC, I then served for three years as the Cantor of the Reform
synagogue in Lakewood, NJ. During that time, through the technological
matchmaking marvel of JDate.Com, I met and fell in love with Amy Bauman, a
dedicated teacher who lived only an hour drive away from me in North
Brunswick. We immediately started dating (in person) and at the end of my
three years in Lakewood, we were married and shortly thereafter moved to
Florida. There, we grew to miss hills and snow and the changes of seasons.
I look forward to singing with all of you, learning and worshipping
together, sharing in your joys and sorrows, and spending time together as a
sacred community. I already had an opportunity to meet the dedicated staff
as well as some of the dedicated membership here at Temple Israel, including
representatives of the wonderful Bar/Bat Mitzvah class and their parents.
Please feel free to stop by my office at Temple at any time to talk. My door
is always open!
