Rabbi Robert Feinberg


 Temple Israel welcomes Rabbi Robert Feinberg as its 13th rabbi starting July1, 2009

 

Rabbi Feinberg and his wife Myra come to Akron from Congregation B'nai Torah in Highland Park, Il. His tenure at Congregation B'nai Torah started in 2004.  Prior to that, Rabbi Feinberg had a 20 year career in the United States Navy as a chaplain, ending his career with the rank of Captain.  His assignments included Okinawa, Japan where the synagogue had 300 members, the US Sixth Fleet, Naples, Italy, the US Naval Academy, and Great Lakes naval Training Center.  He also helped establish the first Reform Congregation in the former Soviet Union.

 

Rabbi Feinberg graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Yale and holds an MBA from Temple University.  He was ordained in t 1982.  Rabbi and Myra are excited about their move to Akron.

 

Rabbi Feinberg said "I see this as a congregation community with a long and rich history.  I look forward to being a part of the community and building upon such a historic and profound tradition."
