Approximately 150 students are expected to attend.

Our TYG - Temple Israel's Youth Group provides cultural, community, and social activities for our high school age members.  Youth Group has always been an important part of Temple Israel.  This is reflected in the large number of Rabbis that have developed from our NFTY alumni.

TYG members participate with other youth groups throughout the NFTY Northeast Lakes region that includes Ohio, parts of Pennsylvania, western New York State, and Ontario.  The region was formerly known as "NELFTY" (Northeast Lakes Federation of Temple Youth) which has an on-line NELFTY Alumni Directory.  This in turn is part of the more complete national NFTY Alumni Directory

Relationships develop that carry on into the national NFTY organization and provide opportunities to also participate in national leadership camps and Israel travel (Temple Israel offers a special "IISP" Israel Incentive Savings Program in conjunction with the Jewish Community Board of Akron, and with support provided by the Irving J. & Ruth B. Olson Israel Scholarship Fund at the JCBA, that  can offset a major portion of an Israel youth experience).   click for IISP details

College students can participate in KESHER.   The Hebrew word "kesher" translates as "connection."  KESHER's goal is to connect Jews in college with their Judaism, both on campus and in their home congregations, and to one another.  KESHER is the College Education Department of the UAHC.  KESHER serves several different constituencies, including Reform college students, UAHC Congregations and their College/Youth Committees, campus Hillel Foundations, and high school students exploring the possibilities of Jewish life on campus.   There is a KESHER contact directory by University that is available for high school students to contact potential schools to learn about Jewish life on campus.
